Genital wart is a sexually transmissible disease cause by human papillomavirus or HPV. It is scientifically known as condyloma acuminata or venereal warts. It usually infects the genital organs of both man and women. It can be acquired through skin-to-skin contact like having sex and through both oral and anal intercourse.

If affected with this disease, you may experience some genital wart symptoms. These symptoms may vary depending on how you are infected. If you are infected with this through sexual intercourse, genital wart symptoms will start to be visible in the genital organs. For men it commonly starts to grow in the tip of the penis. It may also starts to grow in the scrotum. For women genital wart symptoms may be visible first outside the labia or inside the womb, in uterus.

Genital wart symptoms sometimes occur unnoticed. Like other sexually transmissible disease, it sometimes takes months or years before the symptoms appear. These symptoms may be painless or itchy. Anogenital warts may be itchy, irritated and swollen. Flat lesions are also a possible symptom of genital warts.

Genital warts usually occur in groups. They can be treated as soon as symptoms start to appear. They are viral caused and therefore can be treated by an anti-viral crèmes and ointments. Although it may take time to cure it, surgical operation to remove it may be a fast solution, it is more expensive though. Should these symptoms appear, you should call on your Doctor immediately to see if it requires immediate attention before it starts to spread.

A female is very susceptible to sexually transmitted diseases such as HPV genital warts since majority of the male population are not aware of this kind of sexually transmitted infection. This kind of infection is caused by a virus just like the main cause of the sexually transmitted disease HIV or also known as aids. A person with this kind of infection will suffer further medical complications such as cervical cancers if the wart is located near the sex organ or genitals and anal cancer if the wart is around a person’s anus.

HPV genital warts can be treated immediately on the first few signs of this kind of sexually transmitted infection and can also be avoided through practicing safe sex such as wearing contraceptives during sexual intercourse. Having a regular medical examination is one way of preventing this kind of infection. The HPV genital warts in females occur on the outside as well as the inside parts of the vagina and sometimes appear in large amount of clusters or sometimes stalk like.

HPV genital warts can appear in a woman’s uterus or womb and even on the opening of the vagina. Warts on the other hand appear on the anus of a woman if a woman engages in anal sex with a man who has HPV. When a person who is HPV positive engages in sexual activities, the tendency of the partner is to become a carrier of this kind of virus. That is why a person with genital infections must avoid engaging in any sexual types of activities even just kissing.
